Excuse me while I do a little dance and squeal as our master bedroom slowly begins to feel like a place you’d actually want to lay your head. We have CURTAINS!!!
It used to look like this, with those gnarly vinyl blinds. But, a few months ago, we FINALLY added curtains to our downstairs picture window and my affordable DIY’d curtain rod hardware came out so well, that I’ve opted to use this technique on our bedroom windows, as well.
I’m still looking for the perfect curtains for the girls room. In the meantime, however, I managed to get them up in our master bedroom and it has basically changed our bedrooms life.
Not that I should be surprised, but I can’t believe how much cozier and softer it feels in here now. The hanging plant (that’s a Pathos – another indestructible plant) helps with the soft, homey vibe too 🙂 I was going to wait until we painted the bedroom, but honestly, there’s so much on the walls in here already (like a giant gallery wall) and who knows how long until we get to painting.
The closet dowel and brackets are from Lowes. I painted the ends of the rod and the brackets using gold spray paint and the rod is stained American Chestnut from Minwax. The curtains and curtain clips are from West Elm.
This affordable rod alternative has also popped up at my moms house. I recently made her one for her guest bedroom. Her curtain and clips are also from West Elm. We love our West Elm!
