You know that “other” project I’m working on. Just that little thing floating out there in space waiting to catch one break? The restaurant. Oh, did you forget about it. I totally understand if you did, because it’s been the longest, most painful labor on the planet…and I gave birth to twins!
Well, yes, it’s still happening, albeit at a snails pace. We’ve encountered every road block. There have been tears. So. Many. Tears. But, yes, it is still happening. I’ll share all the gory details one we get through this final disaster, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some of my recent inspiration with you.
Bar stools. Yup, it’s the little things, like bar stools that keep me chipping away at this little project. If I keep my vision clear than I can remain inspired through all the disasters and let me tell you my friends, there have been so. many. disasters.
Our restaurants main focus is on removing the barriers between front of house and back of house. Basically we’re aiming to be the open-concept of restaurants. Guests will be in the kitchen, served by the chef (my big bro) and invited to have a uniquely intimate and collaborative interaction with the food. What a novel idea, amiright?
This concept calls for lots and lots and lots of bar stools. Since 90% of our guests will be sitting at a bar (a chef’s table, if you will) bar stools are the primary focus and so they’re kind of s sticking point with me. They need to be modern, sleek, and minimalist, while remaining comfy, refined and…comfy (comfort, people!). You can see our lighting ideas HERE.
I’m partial to a low-back/half-back, but am also kind of giddy over the big beefy upholstered chairs as well. Here are our top contenders:
